Another event, this time at the heart of Asia’s vastest hub: a new Montreux Jazz Café opens this Friday 7 October in Singapore, a multicultural capital known for incredible food. British soul singer Omar, Swiss export Bastian Baker, and pianist Jerry Léonidewill inaugurate the Café’s stage. With a musical backdrop, borders melt away: by focusing on the quality of the experience offered to its listeners, the Festival continues to cultivate values developed from the very beginning by its founder.

The Pan Pacific Orchard at 10 Claymore Road is a sophisticated 5-star hotel. It is here that the very first Montreux Jazz Café in Asia will now make its jazzy mark. The contemporary cuisine, faithful to the signature dishes of this worldwide brand ambassador, will include some Asian riffs in an echo of the island’s diversity. The interiors are luxurious, directly inspired by the Café at the Fairmont le Montreux Palace: a restaurant, a business-oriented VIP area, a lounge zone, and, of course...there has to be a stage! All this is enhanced by another Montreux Jazz Café specificity: continuous playback from the audiovisual archives of concerts recorded since 1967 and inscribed in UNESCO’s Memory of the World Register.  

With its highly attractive name, this new Asian outpost aspires to become a veritable observatory of the music scene in South Asia, most notably by discovering talented young musicians to participate in the competitions at the Festival.
