Public events always generate a certain amount of waste. The mission of the Montreux Jazz Festival is to limit the amount produced and to ensure the most possible sorting and recycling. We therefore prioritize the reduction of waste volume and improvement in sorting or recyclables. An awareness campaign, “Help us reach 100% sorting of recyclables”, draws the attention of our festival-goers to the impact they can have.
The Montreux Jazz Festival has developed a general strategy for sustainable development, and is constantly improving the measures that have been in place for the past several years. In 2014 we created an environmental commission to ensure better coordination of the various ongoing efforts and future projects. The priority for 2014 was to replace our waste management system and the objective of attaining 100% sorting.
